Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here to learn more about agriculture.
My name is Sara, and I’m a 6th-generation farmer married to a 4th-generation farmer. Together, we’re raising the 5th generation—our three kids—on my husband’s family farm in northern Iowa.
Agriculture has always been one of my greatest passions, and I’m thrilled to share its incredible world with you.
I grew up on a small farm in Minnesota, where livestock—especially cows—brought me so much joy. Even today, I feel immense gratitude for the fulfillment and happiness that comes from being around these beautiful animals.
While my roots run deep in agriculture, I also come from a long line of educators. My mom is a 3rd-generation teacher, and growing up, I always thought that if I didn’t go into farming, I’d likely become a teacher. Teaching has always been close to my heart, and as a parent, I love watching my children learn through fun and exciting moments—many of which happen right here on the farm.
As an educator for our regional Ag in the Classroom program, I’ve seen firsthand the need to share agriculture’s story with both urban and rural communities. I’ve also realized the demand for flexible resources that fit into the busy schedules of teachers. That’s why I created There’s a Farmer in My Classroom—a program designed to bring agriculture to life for kids and teachers in a way that works best for them.
Whether teachers need a 30-minute break to catch up on tasks (because we all know how much they juggle!) or students are ready for something new and exciting, There’s a Farmer in My Classroom is here to serve. Through virtual farm tours, interactive lessons, and firsthand experiences, my goal is to inspire curiosity and help everyone gain a deeper understanding of agriculture and the food on our tables.
Thank you so much for being here. I can’t wait to connect and share this journey with you!
